Hey There! We're Tortuga Coffee Roasters, a small-batch specialty coffee roaster based in Edmonton, AB.

Back in our undergrad days, we each spent countless hours in local coffee shops cafe hopping, trying new featured beverages, and looking for funky pourovers. The more time we spent trying new things, refining our palettes and taking our extended coffee breaks, the more curious we got about the world of coffee. From there, Tortuga was born.

We started working on things back in 2024, learning the ropes on our Bullet roaster, trying to perfect the process, and figuring out who we wanted to be as a brand and a company. After a solid year of R&D, connecting with and learning from the local coffee community, designing a million things, and countless sample roasts, we had a fantastic official launch at the end of 2025.

Now, we’re working on growing from there. While we’re still a pretty small home-based business, we’re working away, roasting more coffee, finding new opportunities, and seeing where the future can take us. In the meantime, we thank you for making us a part of your daily ritual - let’s take our sweet time, and enjoy the little things!

  • Julian

    CO-FOUNDER; WEARER OF MANY HATS

    Julian is our man of many talents, running this whole operation - he's a real everything guy, roasting beans, shaking hands and caffeinating the masses.

    This guy really loves an experiment. He's always down to try a funky brew or find how to get coffee into ANY pastry recipe. He loves to chat, so don't be scared to ask him questions!

  • Edward

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Weaponizing his background in art & design, Edward has helped bring the Tortuga vision to life. He’s helped figure out our lovely cans, merch, and brand as a whole.

    This guy is a bit of a nutjob, but man does he have intermediate Adobe skills. He's in charge of design for tortuga, which means it's his job to put the lipstick on the proverbial pig.

  • Nathan

    CO-FOUNDER; SWEDISH CORRESPONDENT

    Nathan has been on this journey from the start. While he's off being studious in Sweden, he's always repping Tortuga all the way across the fjord.

    He's something of a scientist - while Nathan studied neuroscience and is currently studying toxicology, he's actually in Sweden taking a masters in the art of Fika (Swedish coffee break, to pause, connect, and recharge).

  • Vaibhav

    ADVISOR, VIBES & TEAM MORALE

    Vaibhav is a fountain of knowledge spanning lots of diverse subjects. No matter what topic is being discussed, he's a great sounding board, and has been since Tortuga was just an idea.

    He's a real team player, always eager to help out with whatever the team may need. Vaibhav's always ready with a joke or an idea, and always brings good vibes.
